Succeeding Our Classroom Progress

For educators, managing the class is a part that can consider the succession of teaching and learning progress. There are five main points for this one. Those are planning which can be wrapped from the existence of designing the lesson plan; materials development; media; assessment and classroom management itself. First step which should be given a huge attention for an educator is planning the class activities. Before coming to the class, it is recommended to design a plan through what activities that will be done by the students in the class. In this part, the teacher also should consider the time allocation, the strategy which would be applied, the teaching method within detail information about activities and also time consumption. A great planning can determine the succession of the class. Planning also benefits the teacher to drive the class properly. Therefore, the teacher also should draw the solution when a certain activity has done early. This can impact lead the students to involve the class. Then, the goal of learning has been reached.

Second is materials development. The materials which is applied in the class is under the responsibility of the teacher. Hence, the teacher should select the most appropriate materials for the students they face. The factors which should be considered are the difficulty level of the content of materials to the students' grade. Then, the layout which are match to the students' age. Let us take an example a material for young learners of course has a contrast different for the layout of adult learners. The pictures that can visualize the students' mind should be put in young learners' materials. Hence, an elegant design should be painted for adult learners in order to make them focus on the text which is exist. Besides, the learners' skills also should be qualified in the materials needed. Thus, the educators can construct their own materials and also take the available materials after considering the students' need.

The third is media. Media can be defined as a tool to bridge the materials toward students' mind. Hence, this point is an important thing to help the teacher deliver the message through the students. For nowadays era, there are various media which are offered. However, generally it can be classified into two parts. First is sophisticated media and second is conventional media. The presence of technology of course ease the human's need in almost each corner of life. Therefore, one side which impacted is for education. For modern area, LCD, projectors, language laboratory, computer can be found easily. Those can be argued as part of media. Then, for remote are, those tools cannot be found. Hence, the teacher can modify the media creatively to attract the students engagement. After discussing a lot, media is a vital tool to involve the students' understanding, isn't it?

The fourth part is assessment. Well, this is aimed to measure the students' understanding about what have been learned by them. Based on Idawati (2014), there are two ways to assess the students; those are subjectively and objectively. If we talk about this one, there will be a lot of kinds of assessment in each kinds. To shorten them, let us discuss the highlight points only. The main point of subjective one is the students have a freedom to deliver their point of view for several issues. For objective point, the students are given the choices such as multiple choices, cloze test, etc. Hence, the assessment should be consider wisely to make sure that they can measure the students' understanding in the right way.

The last point is classroom management. In this point, the teacher should look at the physical settings of the class. The seat arrangements can be categorized here. Such as making a hybrid seat arrangements, U form etc. It should be based on the amount of the students and also the size of the class. The position of the whiteboard or LCD also should be eye catching. Thus, the students do not lack the materials because of the dismiss in arranging the classroom. Besides, the policy of the class should be made and be obeyed for everyone. Dr. Erna Iftanti told my classmates and I when we were in this part, "making a rule is easy, but to make it real needs a lot efforts. As the teacher, it is recommended to be a model of obeying the policy which have been dealt by both the teacher and the students.
